The autocross at Cedar Rapids should be great. The course layout should be a
lot of fun from what i've heard.
Autocross is a test of driving skill through, typical, a maze of cones.
CORSA autocrosses are usually easy to follow, at least that's the goal.
Still challenging enough for the experineced drivers, yet still lots of fun
for the novice.
the CORSA rules on the the CORSA website -- in short, your car, a 64,
sounds like it fits IS-1.
Helmit -- snell 1995 or newer - motorcylce helmits are OK - M-2000 helmits
are not very expensive. Expect af ew loaner helmits will be available.
Battery being secure is the biggest item found during tech -- grab the top
of the battery and try to dislodge it. if it dislodges or moves,
re-secure. batteries do lots of damage when they fly around the engine bay.
and they will. lots of hard cornering.
Someone will help with marking the car with numbers, and recemmending higher
air presure in the tires to reduce sidewall flex.
passengers are normally not allowed. some SCCA regions will allow novices a
passenger, haven't seen it at a Corsa event.
The Iowa folk are very friendly, I've enjoyed my annual visits to the time
trials very much.
I encourage everyone to give them a visit.
