<VV> Greenbriar photo in magazine

Has anyone looked at "Aviation History" for July?  On page 74, in the "Legacy of Flight" article there is a photo of a man in a rocket-belt airborn over what sure looks to me like a Greenbriar.

The story only says that its a "military staff car", which brings up the question, did the military ever use Corvair Vans for staff cars?
