folks
Cleaning up the stainless trim for the windshield and backlite on the EUM this weekend, the front cleaned up pretty good, a light cleaning with bon-ami and a sponge, then 0000 steel wool has all the front trim ready to be polished, with a moderate amount of elbow grease expended.----A good activity while watching TV. Heading out to set the clips this am, and installing the new windshield if time allows.
However, one of the PO's decided to seal leaks in the backlite ribbon by using various types of "ULTRA" sealants, possibly RTV, or another type of silicone, or possibly some type of epoxy. The stuff is coated on the edges and sides of the trim, and after having been baked on by CA Sun, won't even barely chip off, much less come off with steel wool.
Any thoughts on how to get this stuff off without ruining the trim?? Although Stainless is pretty forgiving, I don't want to begin foraging for trim pieces at this juncture.
