Mike, One of my front bumpers was torn at the bottom near the hole. The
local bumper place straightened it, welded it and replated it. It wasn't show
quality, but it was functional and looked straight. And at the time, it was
cheaper than a "new" replated one. Now the down side: That was twenty years
ago and that bumper place is no longer in business. I wouldn't think such work
would be cheaper today than a rechrome from one of the Corvair supply houses.
If they won't take your old one in trade, put it away until Corvairs are
expensive and maybe then it will be worth it to repair the thing.
