<VV> can a powerglide run backwards?

It would be VERY difficult to make it run backwards. Remember, the guts turn
the same way as a front engined Powerslide.
The issues are numerous:
1. The front pump plumbing would need to be reversed.
2. The rear pump plumbing would need to be reversed.
3. The low band won't work right with the torque in that direction, it would
be pushing AGAINST the piston.
4. The thrust loads would all go the wrong way, and as such, it's not certain
if everything inside can deal with it.
5. Not sure how the governor would like it, either due to spinning backwards,
or reversing the thrust load on the driven gear.
Which, of course, begs the question, what are you up to?
By the way, an early Subaru 3 speed automatic spins opposite to a Corvair
Powerglide, and it has a similar power path, in that it has coaxial input and
output shafts. The 4 and 5 speed units put the power out the end opposite the
input, and have transfer gears to send the power alongside the tranny to the
front diff.

I'm looking into a special application for a Corvair PG. Do any of you have
knowledge of the internal workings well enough to know if it can be operated
using an engine that's turning opposite to normal Corvair rotation?
Thanks in advance, Craig Nicol
