i use an l shaped tool with a small hook on the end to remove the seal and 
retainer. it was purchased many years ago but i am sure they still exist. i will 
get a picture of it later today and the number off it.  it was kd or 
similiar. very handy to have and not expensive.
also i have an extra set of 140 heads for sale now, along with several other 
items coming up. i must clean out getting ready for future move. other heads 
and parts from past years keep surfacing. also 2 sets of nice chevy small block 
aluminum valve covers new in boxes were for my boat never used.lots  more to 
come soon.
when hanging mufflers on 140 engines hang them from the engine NOT the body.
