I believe the other difference between '65 and '66-'69 is the way the 
battery is retained. The '65s had a strap across the top of the battery and 
two long bolts to hold it down and in the car. The later ones had a lip, on 
the fender side, that catches the bottom edge of the battery. The engine 
side is caught by a movable clamp, that also catches the bottom edge of the 
battery and is held in by a short bolt thru a threaded hole in the battery 
tray. The '66-'69 style is still used on GM cars.
