In my opinion, the main causes of belt throwing are these.

Use of a generator mount with an alternator, bad blower bearing, steel 
blower.........

Have him remove the belt and with the engine off, give the fan a push. Watch 
how it comes to a stop. A slow smooth stop is good. A rapid stop is bad. A 
stop with the fan making a slight reverse movement is worse. Last two symptoms 
require a bearing replacement.
