most good body shops will restore a steering wheel for you. i had a rare 
wheel done for an antique boat not long ago, which came out very nice. it cost 
about $100.00 for this one. it was done with the newer type paints.  i just 
painted mine years ago with laquer and it looked good for a long time but rings etc 
scratched it up now it needs redoing someday the correct way.
