The Gurus of the Corvair Hobby will tell you that you need to check all seals for the engine compartment for optimum air flow. Has the oil cooler been serviced? Is the temperature gauge sending unit working correctly? My unit was not. Is the engine compartment clean? Mice had clogged mine and eaten away the seals. My thermostats and doors needed cleaning too.
Castrol now makes a 5W50 synthetic oil to help with the Corvair cooling range. Justice Bros. makes a transmission fluid cooler additive. I also installed a K&N air filter. I don't know if that will help but they do say it improves air flow.
