Well, it might get easier with more experience and understanding of the
whole system.
Look at it this way. If it was a water cooled engine, would you look for
information on the cooling system in the Exhaust Section? Of course not.
The basic operating principles are the same only difference is the heat
exchange fluid.
Nothing to really get ticked off at. You just learned something. Because
the final answer took some frustration to get, you're more likely to
remember it.
P.S. Unless the damper doors get stuck closed by something else the
thermostats are design to fail open (failsafe) so the engine won't overheat.
