<VV> Re: (VV) Ethanol?

Fellow Varians:
There was this quote in the New York Times today:
a new emphasis on biofuels like corn-based ethanol
would contribute to a reduction in imports. That idea
was backed in the Senate on Wednesday, as lawmakers
voted 70 to 26 to require refiners to add eight
billion gallons of ethanol each year to the gasoline
supply by 2012. It was one of the first significant
votes on a measure expected to occupy the Senate for
at least the next two weeks.

------If that comes to pass, the eight billion gallons
of ethanol, that means we'll be seeing the 'gasahol'
blend at pumps here in Florida, and my question is how
will our Corvairs react to this diet?

I understand the gas-alcohol blend can damage some
seals and rubber parts in fuel systems. Will my
Monza's fuel pump succumb? What about other fuel
system parts on our old cars? Surely there is someone
on the list who has either researched or experienced
gasahol.
