Hi Marc,
This is really interesting as I have received several off-line replies
saying that there's nothing there. A small piece of vinyl does make more
sense than bare metal - even there.

My '66 has a small piece of vinyl that is held down by the windlace and the
sill plate. It is a small piece and easily lost, which is probably what
happended to yours somewhere during the car's life.
