<VV> VENT WINDOWS

Sorry if you guys have already beat this one to death,
but I'm only a fraction of the way through the 150 VV
posts I've recieved since leaving on vacation two
weeks ago.
I wanted to weigh in on the vent window modification.
I'd agree it would help clean up and modernize the
look of a 40-year-old car that still looks stylish.
But what is the effect on interior venting and noise
levels?
My 2002 Dakota truck has a dark grey interior, and
even with half the windows tinted, it stays quite warm
whenever the sun is out. Turbulence from rolling down
the windows, even a little, sounds like driving in a
hurricane. Otherwise, even at 90 mph it is quite
quiet. If it is sunny and 50 degrees, I have to run
the air conditioner if I want to keep my wife
comfortable or hear what anyone is talking about.
Sometimes this is the same thing. It is irritating to
think I can't cool down the 95 degree interior by
simply opening a window to the 50 degree air outside.
The same went for an '84 Chevy Citation I had. Light
interior, but if I wanted ventillation I had to put up
with tons of noise.
My '68 Monza is black on black and it too retains
heat. It is a lot noisier than the two newer cars,
but the vent window adds considerable ventiation
without a lot of additional noise.
I read where Seth pulled the vents to lighten a racer,
but has anyone done this to a road car, and what was
the esthetics?
