I always figured one reason that the General only used mechanical pumps on Corvairs was the same
reason he did many things...
They cost less... NAHHHH, not a chance.

You mean like the very real possibility of diluting your crankcase oil with gas when one of those extra-fine modern diaphragms leak in a mechanical pump? :)
