Okay - About 20 years ago, a friend had a little sports  racing autocrosser. 
Mid-engined Genie/Corvair. It was really designed for a  Driver-only. His 
daughter (17 year old) wanted a ride in it. I took her  for a fun run, but the 
only way she could fit inside was to "straddle" the  shifter. (One knee on either 
side.) If I had missed a second gear shift, I  probably would have been 
arrested.
