A Google search of this arcane translation of MIG yields the following:
"Mechanical Inert Gas" - 80 hits
"Metal Inert Gas" - 12,700 hits
"Metal" wins. "Mechanical" must be an early mis-naming.
Metal Inert Gas welders are better than Mechanical Inert Gas welders.
