<VV> starting problem-suggestions?

I'd take a wild guess and say there is something wrong with the main
wire that feeds the fuse block. Perhaps a partial disconnect due to a
corrosion problem. I had the same problem with my '69. It was the "big
red wire" that was in a junction connection under the dash board.
A lot of wiggling of the connector would bring relief. I finally
disconnected the wires from the connector and polished up the actual
contacts. Problem seems to be solved. I would assume a '64 must be quite
similar.

This problem is so dangerous, as one time (70 mph on the interstate)
when I turned on my headlights the connection decided to disconnect
leaving me with NO electrical power (no lights no engine, no horn etc.)
It seems like the connection can take only so much draw and when it is
exceeded it acts like a fuse and shuts the car down.

 Similar problems any one else????

Getting all the information is most of the solution.

... 500 PG. Went to start it yesterday, turned switch to the 'on'
position and the dash idiot lights glowed like normal. ... start it i
heard a 'click' and the lights went dead. ... wiggled the wires on the
battery and voltage regulator ... idiot lights came on again but when i
tried to start it same results. any idea what this might be?

thanks,
Tully
