<VV> self-serve in Jersey (No Corvair)

I grew up in North Jersey (Pompton Plains) and never pumped my own gas. I  
last lived there in the early 80's. We drove back a couple of years ago from  
Kansas. When we stopped for gas just across the border from PA, I got out and  
started activate the pump, just like I'd been doing for the past 1500  miles. 
The attendant wasn't very happy about that. My wife just said "We're in  
Jersey." She never got "use to" pumping gas herself.
