Source for info regarding rumours, scams, and hoaxes. They say it's not
a serious concern for most. Unless you're running a used car lot.

The VINs on my vehicles is covered by a piece of black electrical tape and
can't be read.
Easy to do and maybe a good idea.
I was warned about this by a Cop friend a long time ago.
