i need to know the best combo of heads etc for most driveability and least 
ping on a powerglide engine. i guess i do not understand simple theory on 
detonation.  do i want lower compression ? with or without step in heads? i have 95 
hp heads with and without step, 140 heads, 110 smog heads(i have a good set of 
smog pistons/cylinders also) here.  i think i want the 9889 camm. any input 
on this project? then i will do something like it for my other vehicles. i want 
to be able to drive these things on hot days up an occasional hill without 
feeling like i am destrying them with pinging with 93 octane gas in them and 
timing set back a notch...i drive thruway at times and country at times about 65 
mph etc.  i guess i need tutoring on the "squish" area etc. also trying to use 
as much as i have on hand here to keep dollars in line.( i have a lot here).
