Hey Bob,
I've got a healthy pile of tree chunks on pallets in
my yard (raw materials for woodturning). At first sign
of mice I bought some of the pellet-style mouse baits
sold at Home Depot. I think they might work as an
attractant, since my shop is also Mickey free. Cheap
and VERY effective. I just open the bag and fling it
into the woodpile twice a summer.
For wasps and hornets, I recommend the yellow traps
that use pheremone bait. These actually will draw the
bugs, queens too, from a distance. Put one in a tree
about 50 feet from your shop/barn/house and they won't
nest in your eaves or attic. The baits come in squeeze
tubes that last about three weeks and cartridges that
last about four months.
