Hi Tom,
First of all, I'm no expert, but since nobody else has replied I will.
That plug terminal will come apart, you just may have to pry and cuss a
bit, but it will come apart. Having said that, if you are going to
replace the under dash harness, you should also replace the tunnel
harness that it plugs into. So it doesn't really matter if you can't get
the connection apart. The tunnel harness is much cheaper than that under
dash one and is subjected to a much harsher environment, so replace them
both.
Luckily for me, the previous owner of my car already replaced the tunnel
harness, but unfortunately didn't cough up the dough to do the under
dash wires. I plan to replace the under dash harness when I get the car
back from the body shop, since the interior is out of it and it needs it.
