<VV> Factory Glass important or not?

Hi,

With my Spyder in the body shop now (and for the past three weeks), I need
to decide on whether or not to replace my front windshield with a new one.

The existing factory windshield (correct date code and mfg) is in decent
shape EXCEPT for scratches where a previous owner ran the wipers without
blades, causing surface scratches in the shape of the wiper arc on both the
passenger side and driver's side of the windshield.  Other than that and
some minor pitting, the windshield is perfect.

I can replace the windshield with a new one for no cost (to me) because I
have zero deductible on glass, but the replacement glass will not be factory
glass.

The question is; to replace or not.  I can likely have the factory glass
buffed out (I'm guessing this is possible), but if, in the concourse
judging, factory glass is NOT important, then I'd just as soon have a new
windshield.
