Joe,
I find your problem odd. I have installed a bunch of senders in various 
Corvairs and have never needed to calibrate any of them. They all worked as 
advertised. I did however finally buy the proper tool for 
removing/installing the senders after many years of doing it with a screw 
driver. Quite an improvement!
