As many of you know, I am getting into (hopefully) the final stages of
getting my 69 Monza Convertible back on the road. Short history, car turned
50,000 miles on it bringing it to Texas from Minnesota in April of last year,
never had a problem till then. Engine ended up with 2 broken piston rings.
Fixed those, and then had the new rod bearing go bad in about 60 miles, taking
out the crank and leading to a complete rebuild of the engine.

Now are ordering mucho dollars in new internal parts, and having the heads
gone through to alter the compression ratio to fit the new flat-top pistons
with the 69 smog heads.

One of the parts we are going to put in is a new oil pump. When I purchased
my 65 Turbo Convertible about 6 years ago, I got with it a bunch of new and
NOS parts, including a new Clarks high volume oil pump.

The engine we are building for the 69 is the stock 110, trying to make it a
good streetable engine with an Isky cam that is just a little more than
stock. Just a good drivable engine. What would the plusses and minuses of
putting the high volume oil pump in this engine. I know that an oil pump isn't
expensive, but when you can save anywhere while spending over $2,000 on an
engine, I would just as soon do that. I just don't want to do anything
detrimental to the engine over the long term.

Thanks for the input.
