after seeing the insides of hundreds of engines over the years i change my 
oil often!
if you run your engines lots of miles without shutting down(keeping heat 
even) you could get away with longer intervals diesel or gas.  i only know what i 
have seen over the years including corvair engines.  MY motto is "change your 
oil, not your engine"  if you do not in these later engines and overdrive them 
as everyone seems to do you are flirting with disaster for sure. lack of 
maintainence(abuse!) is the cause of almost all engine changes  period.  let 
common sense prevail.
