They are so soft [ the transverse leaf is a load carrier as well]  that the 
weight of an average driver would make it sag bad!

As Jim just mentioned....loading is approx. 800 lb.

My  wannaberacer..Speedskater had approx 400lb loads...I started with the 
FRONT  coils from a car.....way too soft....then FC  frnt. coils...too stiff !

Finally  64 rears.....cut 2 coils.....just right!......But I reversed the 
positions....to "preload"  the passengers wheel....
