<VV>Windshield Removal 65 Corsa Need Help

Today I noticed that my removal of trim from my (4-year-old) windshield a
couple of days ago must have nicked it. 10" crack coming down from the top.
This will make the fourth windshield in this car, if my count is correct (I
could be off). I paid for every one of them, although the first one came
with the car.
In view of this, I would like henceforward to attach the trim by means
other than the clips. I've seen them glued in and, aside from the mess, I
seem to have noted that this approach encourages rust (I've found none so
far under the trim - a good job of rustproofing was done four years ago).
Does anyone have any experience with alternative methods of attaching the
trim?

I purchased a heated windshield removal tool from Clark's 15 or so years
back. I've removed windshields using wire with two 1" dowels as handles as
well.
The heated removal tool works wonders, but doesn't make the job fool proof.
If you nick the glass it's probably toast (I have sealed the nicks with
silicone and that sometimes helps).
I think money is wasted when a car is painted if the windshield and rear
window areas aren't cleaned up and rust proofed. Rust never sleeps. If
anyone
would like to borrow the removal tool in the D.C. area let me know.
