Folks
Last year I ran for Director against 2 guys, one won, and I and another guy
lost.
If I could get away from work for the National, I would have already put my
name in the hat. Being at the Directors Meeting at the National I believe
is a Mandatory Requirement for being a director, and there is no way I can
go. I was told at a meeting at work this week that we will be on mandatory
6, voluntary 7 days per week schedule until at least the middle of July.
I know that we have discussed recently going to the National as a vacation.
Many of us already do this---unfortunately I just started this job, and
there will be no time off while the company is 5 million dollars behind in
orders. I have been working a minimum of 52 hours a week, and usually more
since the beginning of the year.
That being said, let me say this---
There are many folks on this list who would make good directors, who already
attend the national convention every year. So why not??? I mean, there
isn't even the blow to your ego if you lost---if you run un-oppposed, how
the hell can you lose???
Let me say one more thing on this:
While working on the Basics Manual, and being V V Chairman for 2 years, I
found the people on the BOD to be great folks, who care about our club, and
give a bit more of themselves than the rest of us do to keep it that way.
Working with Sarah, Seth, Dennis, Kent, Harry, and others (like lclc--though
he isn't a director), and becoming friends with them in the process was
something I thought would never happen to me when I first became a member of
this club. And since most of those names are already familar to V V people,
I just can't see why nobody is stepping up....
For My part, I am calling Scott tomorrow about a part I am buying for him...
If he thinks that the BoD would excuse me from the meeting, I will put my
name in contention.....I know someone out there wants to see me lose again,
so......What are you waiting for??/
Regards
HANK
