<VV> Engine lid locks

Is anyone familiar with engine lid locks for the late models?

My 65 Coupe has a lock that works with one of the two Chevy keys.  It's 
tucked up under the area where the lid release is.  The original owner 
claims it came that way from the factory, but I've never seen any reference 
to it in any manuals or books.  It also has the spare tire lock which works 
with the same key.

I've seen an article in one of the books I have on how to add your own lock, 
but this is nothing like that.
