Good Evening

My first National was Williamsburg 94.

Also attended 99 Tahoe,

My first V V meeting. After someone calling themselves for years on the net Patio Matt, Matt, and Abelink, some guy walks around for days with a nametag that says--Lawrence? I probably walked past him 3 dozen times. Who the hell is Lawrence?

Spent a great hour discussing politics with Herb Berkman.

This is why the VV nametags that have been provided at conventions are so helpful. I hope someone will continue this tradition if Mr.Gault is unable to.

 2000 Daytona, 2002 Flagstaff, 2003 Carlisle.

I enjoyed running the VV meetings at Flagstaff and Carlisle. great to see friends, old and new.

Had a good hour or so at Carlisle after the VV meeting draining a few bottles of suds with Lonzo, Tony, Bill Hubbell, Bryan Blackwell, Joe Robbins, among others, discussion of many topics.

Having trouble making the Central div--Pissed I missed Lexington last year but couldn't be helped.

Buffalo 2006. I can stay with my mom--If I don't yet have vacation coming from Timken, I will apply for leave of absence--

Folks, seeing Niagara Falls alone is worth going to this Convention. I am partially beating the drum for my former clubbies at Greater Niagara Frontier, but truly, this area is one of the best kept secrets in the entire country. Don't miss it. We should also get great attendance from our friends in Group Canuck.

Detroit 07, I've always wanted to see Henry Ford Museum, and all the other attractions. I hope to be there.

While we are on this subject... It is hard for someone who has never been to a National Convention to make the decision to give up a week of valuable vacation time to attend. I know it was for me the first time, but my club was one of the hosts, and I knew it was the right thing to do.

To those of you who have never attended one of our conventions. DO IT. GO!!! You won't regret it. It will charge you up about your car and our hobby like nothing else you have ever done or experienced. Trust me. You will have a great time.

It is like a cruise. You can do everything, or do nothing but watch and observe. Walk around, take pictures of cars for paint ideas, interior ideas, engine compartments, race cars. Go watch the Autocross. Watch Concours Classification. Volunteer to help judge, even if all you do is record, you won't believe how much you will learn. Try the rally, or just go along with someone else. I had fun just pumping gas as the econorun in 94. Go thru the Vendor room, Meet Lon and Cal and Larry, Seth, Steve Goodman, Dale L, Ray Sedman, lots of others too. Outside vendors vary by area, Meeting Charlie Dye at Flagstaff alone was worth the effort of getting there from NC.

You won't consider it a waste of one of your vacation weeks if you attend. That's for sure.

Regards HANK
