I only paint a car every 3-4 years and am amazed at the changes in the
chemistry. I knew about the regular primer absorbing water as it is
supposed to absorb some of the final color paint. Many years ago the
paint store told me to use the epoxy primers as they did not absorb
water. When I questioned them on who uses this, the said the military.
When they paint the vehicles with camouflage paint, it is really just
primer! They don't want a shine.

After I strip a section of the car I just use epoxy primer and don't
worry about any water penetrating while the body work is being done.

Getting all the information is most of the solution.

A couple of guys up here have taken to using a sealer on the car
