<VV> Turbo vs 140

OKay, I'm sure this has been done.  I need it done
again.

I'm REALLY torn here.  I wanted SO badly to be
original with my 65 Corsa.  It came with a turbo
originally, and I really was excited about the whole
idea of keeping that going.  but then I heard all
about turbo lag, and how expensive it was...but it
still isn't enough with the opposing "quicker" engine
being one notorious for dropping valve seats, and
bogging because the carbs have to be synced up so
well.

So what else should I know...what else can I do.  I
still think a turbo might be the way I want to
go...but I just can't...get past whatever trade-offs
and things there are.

Could I please get a little bit of help here?
