No...overheating "collapses"  the rings...Shattered are usually caused by 
having a "ridge" in the bore [ top ring]  and then some young idiot drives it and 
rev's it higher than ever before......with the rod bearings worn more than 
ever....top ring hits the ridge....shattered!  GGGGGGGGGGGGg
