I respectfully disagree. On water pumpers, the engines never get to operating
temperature if the cooling system and all of its components are in good
condition, and no thermostat. On a Corvair, the engine will, in fact, get to
operating temperature. In fact, if driven hard enough, you can overheat a Corvair
engine with no shrouds! It just takes a little longer.
