I am looking at a '66 Corvair Brochure and it clearly
states on page 2 that the standard trans for the Corsa
was the 'new for '66' fully synchronized three speed.
The Powerglide was not available on the Corsa. There's
also no mention anywhere about a 'quick' shifter just
'short thtrow' for all 4-speeds. I owned a '65 Monza
4-speed and a '65 Corsa back in the late '70s (the
Corsa was scrapped in support of the Monza since it
was swiss cheese) and I remember the shifter seemed
tighter and having a shorter through. I obviously put
many, many more miles on the Monza and very few on the
fifty dollar Corsa before it was dismantled. Right now
I own a '66 140 Corsa and the shift linkage seems
tighter and seems to have a shorter throw than the old
Monza did all those miles way back then.
I loved my Monza and the 'new' one is a Corsa by
chance and they're both GREAT cars no matter how you
cut it.
Happy New Year
