Hi Guys!
I have followed this shifter thread with great interest. I recently "Corsa-ized" my 66 Monza coupe. Of course, one of the modifications was to install the metal Corsa shift boot. A friend of mine gave me a complete shifter assembly out of a 66 Corsa he was parting out that had the metal tabs on it that you need to screw the metal boot on with. I visually compared both shifters and they looked identical except for one thing. The Monza shifter housing did not have the screw holes drilled for the boot mounting tabs! Could this be the difference between the supposed two part numbers? I guess the assembly line worker could drill the holes like I did, but this would not seem likely to me. By the way, my Monza is an LA built car for sale outside of California (no smog equipment), but I would doubt this would make any difference. What say the experts?
