But was the reason the Corvair was increased from 140 cid in 1960 to 145 
cid in 61, had to have a bigger engine 8*).

Of course both were playing catch-up to the Rambler American which had been 
re-introduced in 1958 with styling like a Hillman Minx and a 196 cid 
flathead (L-head) six which persisted through the1965 model year. A car 
which made even the Falcon seem modern.
