I'm going to beat this drum right along with Patrick.

An opportunity has presented itself to our hobby like this in YEARS! When
was the last time any car magazine did a Corvair Build up? Popular
Mechanics circa 1965?????

I started reading GRM back in '02 when Patrick did his first entry in the
$2002 Challenge, and I've been hooked ever since. And now that Classic
Motorsports has come along we finally have a place that our Corvairs just
might find some favourable mainstream coverage.

Here's a quick snapshot of some of the more interesting stats I took off the
CMS advertisers page:

Circulation will surpass 50,000 for 2006
Average Reader Annual income: $98,000
Average No. of Cars Owned: 5
Do Maintenance themselves: 64.8% (Vendors!)
Have Pro handle maintenance: 35.2% (Repair specialists!)
Annual Expenditure on Classic Car Maintenance:
$500-$2000 = 38.8%
More than $2000 = 27.1%
Participated in a racing event: 54.6% (Fastvair content)
Bought from Advertisers in CMS: 69.5% (Vendors/Repair!)
Plan to buy a Vintage Car in the next year: 31%

What can YOU do?
If you are a Parts Vendor: Advertise in CMS to coincide with any Corvair
Specific articles
If you are a Corvair Enthusiast: Get a subscription for CMS, and let them
know it's for the Corvair content!
If you are a Corvair racer: Plan to attend this year's Walter Mitty Event
April 28th to the 30th at Road Atlanta
If you're on a budget: Build a 'vair up for less than $2006 and give Patrick
a run for his money this October at the Challenge!

I think, conservatively, CORSA could expect 1% of those readers to buy
Corvairs and join CORSA. This could be very, very good for the Corvair
hobby.

Opportunity is knocking... who is going to answer the door?

Regards,
Joel

What the heck did they buy an early-model for? If they want to make a

Wow, someone must've let a <VV>er onto Fastvair again.

Here's an opportunity to get a lot of exposure for our favorite cars, our
best hi-po vendors, and our national and local clubs, let's not fcuk it up
with
lame attempts at humor (or lame attempts at anything else, for that
matter).
GRM/CM, as well as lots of their readers, are going to look into Corvairs
for the first time. With that will come a new wave of owners / operators
/
repairmen / etc, looking for a place to learn and a place to spend $$$.
With the $$$ will come opportunity for vendors to fund R&D on new parts, or
to
lower prices on cool stuff via "economy of scale" and we'll all benefit
from
that. Don't chase them off with "inside jokes" etc, 'cuz when will we get
this opportunity again?

I told them that FastVair was a good place to learn. I hope I don't
regret
that statement.
