In the '70 station wagon, we called it the "way back". This, I believe, was
BS - Before Sherman, his dog, and his machine.
There was no seat back there - just a deck - and the soft, folding sides
playpen went back there with the baby (once asleep). It came within an inch
or 2 of the roof, so we thought (in those days) that it was pretty safe.
People, including us, were not really using belts - they just got stuffed
between the seat cushions when you bought a new car - never to be seen
again.
Smarter now, and sometimes wonder how we all survived this long.... but we
did.
Attachments (if any) are scanned with anti-virus software.
