I recall it was past a cup - as I recall it turned out one of the cups 
leaked a little - not a tremendous amount, but enough to empty the 
system.  I had checked the fluid level once or twice after assembly but 
did not notice it going down.  Problem turned out to be a cup that 
didn't seal - perhaps a little flaw in the rubber?  A new cup cured the 
problem.  This happened several years ago so I don't recall the precise 
particulars of the fault, but you can believe I can show you the exact 
spot on the road where it happened.
