Just so's nobody's staying awake at night worrying about this....
NAPA's Battery Cable book sez.....

65-69 POS 38"
      NEG 15"

60-64 POS 38"
      NEG 24.5"

Of course, I have no idea if that is correct or not. 

I think the best rule to go by is--- If it's long enough to reach from the Solenoid, or the Body Ground, to the Battery without straining it, and when you turn the key, the engine starts, It's long enough.
