<VV> Running Heater to add cooling

With apologies in advance to those who will laugh at this question....
I have been running my EM vert with the Air and Heat wide open lately
whenever the top is down - which is basically any time I drive it. On a
beastly hot August day, the little extra heat around the feet blows right
away, really unnoticeable. And I have this idea that getting additional
heat away from the engine is a good idea. I'm thinking of my first
water-pumper and how - when the thermostat got stuck closed - you could
actually nurse it along and keep the engine just below the overheated stage
by running the heat on full tilt. The heater core (this was a 64 Catalina)
was actually drawing enough heat off the engine that I managed to get the
temp back to a safe operating range and make it the last 5 miles home. I
realize the analogy when talking about an air cooled engine may not exactly
hold water (so to speak) but wondering if the principle applies and if it is
maybe one way of helping my daily driver stay a bit cooler in the worst of
the Summer heat. Comments?
