And how far does that "gallon" drive you down the road?
E85 is 85% ethanol and the energy value is MUCH less than with gasoline.
Ergo, you need to burn much more of it to go the same distance. Stop
thinking about comparing gasoline and E85 on a $/gallon basis and start
thinking about how much it costs you to drive 100 miles (or whatever). Then
add in the fairly substantial cost (and effort) of converting your fuel
system to run on it and survive. Like to take trips? Better get a biggger
fuel tank too ... Your range will be much lower. And, how many E85 stations
are around? Better map them in advance!
