<VV> Oil filter gasket design

So do we think that ALL filters with the "over the edge" gasket don't seal properly? Or just the Purolators? I have a case of Baldwin filters (good quality, and years old) that have the "over the edge" gasket, but without installing on a cutaway mount how do you tell?

I'd be glad to send a filter to someone who has the cutaway mount to check.
