Speaking of studs,
No not 2x4's but I like to use a Workmate portable bench for engine work. I
drilled holes in the top large enough to pass the Corvair case studs through
so the case is held flat and secure for block half detailing, assembling,
etc. The Workmate can still be used as required for other things.
Also I use this same bench to hold the small block V8 when it's out of my V8
Vair. I made a small stand from some scrap wood that holds the V8 upright
and it sits on top of the Workmate. It says it will hold over 500 pounds.
I've proven it will hold my V8 engine.
I used it as a sheet metal brake during construction of my V8 Vair for all
the aluminum shrouding and engine cover work. After all that was done I
bought a nice brake.....go figure!
