No, I don't think the Corvair was designated an "X" body - that  was for the 
Nova and later Citation.  As I recall, the Corvair  was either an "H" or an 
"R" body.  To make it fun, the later  Vega was and "H" and the 70's Monza was an 
"HR".
 
Seth:  "Y" do you want to know the Corvette's designator?  If I  have a 
minute, I'll ask someone down at the "Y".  But remember, "Y"s-men  don't have to 
ask "Y".
