<VV> Alternator drive end bearing

Hey,
I have a one wire alternator in my car that has stopped charging.  I plan to purchase a rebuilt alternator from the FLAPS & swap out the fan & drive end housing (as per the Tech Guide).
The question I have is - can I swap the drive end bearing from the rebuilt into the Corvair drive frame?  I don't recall seeing that in the Guide, nor elsewhere (I do have the manuals; just not handy).
