. So if you really
>want to have fun in speed events, do it and plan on spending a bit more
>time cleaning up for Concours.
>2001 Chicago 95.48
And that 95.48 was just a couple of days after Darth's offroad event at Blackhawk...
(I was running my Audi that year and could never figure out why the Corvairs were going off where they were (Darth was not alone in the woods) but
running my Corvair the next year I discovered a weight transfer event there that wasn't very obvious (and if anything helpful) in the quattro...)
If Chuck can open tow his car from Atlanta to Chicago then drive his car into 8" of mud at 70mph and still score over 95 a couple of days later, some minor
moving events on the highway should be doable.
>ps. As I have said before, You can have a Senior Concours Corvair and
>compete in speed events. Darth Vair
> has now participated in 9 national speed events including the 1998
>convention autocross.
I have to admit, I have great respect for the concours guys even though I'm not one of them. At the same time I have loads of respect for the racers even
though I'm at best a wannabe. But Chuck is the only guy I know that really relishes both... and excels at both. These cars were meant to be driven... and
he does that in style. My hat is REALLY off to him.
